Start with the Ring Call Questions/Issues...

  1. On the phone, the call volume is the Media Volume setting not the Phone Volume.   Struggled for a while to figure out why one phone could hear the person speaking and another could not.  The Media volume was turned down for personal preference.
  2. Have to unlock phone to use Ring Call.  When doorbell rings, Ring Call opens up, but as soon as I answer, my lock screen comes up and I have to unlock the phone to see/access the call screen.  This was true for both Android and iPhone.  Gave Tapo every possible permission it listed/asked for.
  3. It always comes up with microphone disabled on the phones (both Android and iPhone).  So after answering, and then unlocking the phone, I still have to enable my microphone to finally be able to talk to person at the door.
  4. When someone answers the ring call, it continues to ring on other devices.
  5. On one occasion so far, it popped up on my iPhone with "Slide to Answer" rather than Accept and Decline buttons.   Any idea what was going on there?

 

Notifications

  1. Do not necessarily want Ring Call/Notification on every device when someone rings doorbell, that is up to 4 devices ringing and 3 that continue to ring after someone answers on one device.   How do I still get detection notifications on a device but NOT doorbell ring notification/Ring Call?
  2. Motion Detection is any motion not associated with person or pet?  Do not currently have it enabled, but if it was, and a person walked up, would I get both motion and person detection events?  
  3. If detection is enabled, but notification for corresponding event is not enabled, event is still logged/recorded, just no notification?
  4. Is Pet notification any kind of animal?  Will it detect deer, racoon, possum, etc?   I want it to... I do not want have to sift through every motion event to see if a deer was in my front yard.
  5. When Do Not Disturb is set on either Android or iPhone system, it blocks detection notifications?  What about Ring Call?

 

Misc

  1. If I set the record time for 120s, the LED ring remains on for that amount time, and no other detection events seem to be logged.  Not sure if that will be an issue, but during testing it was confusing when Ring Call would work but a minute later it would not ;-)
  2. I am not sure what the purpose of the button LED ring is.  A very low power light always on at night to help someone see the button I, but why light up only during events/recording/live viewing?
  3. The messages within the Tapo app are per device/app? If I clear all messages on one device, they are still listed on others?  They do not sync read/unread/deleted across all devices on account?
  4. Seems odd that the doorbell has 11 "ring tones" but the chime only has 7, seems like they should sync.   Names rather than numbers would be useful.
  5. Does chime and doorbell communicate via direct (point to point) WiFi connection, the local WiFi network, or through the cloud?   They have to be on same WiFI network?
  6. In a large house (not the case with me though) might need multiple chimes, but they are not sold separately?

 

Lots of questions and comments I know, thanks for any clarification/confirmation/information that can anyone provide.
