Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 240823 Rel.40327n

Hello,

I have a Tapo TC55 floodlight camera (same as the Tapo C720 as far as I can tell) that seems to hang/stop functioning randomly. It remains connected to wifi and will respond to network pings, but it won't allow any connections (RTSP, ONVIF, etc), doesn't show up in the Tapo app, and doesn't turn on the floodlight in response to motion. The only way to get it out of this state is to cut power to it, wait a few seconds, and then power it back up; at that point it comes back online and everything works correctly.

This has happened twice in the past week. I don't know what is causing it, but I saw a theory in a review I found on the Best Buy product page (search for "reboot" in the reviews if that link doesn't work) that it could be due to cold or rain. It is slightly cold (40s - 50s F) and a bit rainy (0.5" today) here, so both of those are possibilities. I installed a gasket behind the mount when I put the camera up, so I don't think any rain is getting into the enclosure (plus nothing is shorting and it works perfect after it is restarted).

Update: see follow-up post below.

It's not a wifi signal problem - the app shows it has 3/3 bars of signal, it remains connected when it freezes, and it starts working immediately after rebooting.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re:Tapo TC55 (C720) floodlight camera has problems with multiple ONVIF connections

Update: after more testing, I now believe that the camera stops working in situations where there are multiple ONVIF clients connected. I have 2 services that connect to the camera via ONVIF: Home Assistant and Scrypted. If I disable one, the other works pretty flawlessly. If they are both connected, the camera exhibits weird behavior.

I tested this by disconnecting Scrypted from the camera and letting it run for over a week with only Home Assistant connected. It worked without issue, including when temperatures dropped below 40. Last night I reconnected Scrypted, and about 5 hours later the camera stopped responding. I cannot connect an ONVIF or an RTSP client, and the Tapo app cannot communicate with it either.

I have reported this to Tapo support; hopefully they will be able to recreate the issue and increase the stability of the camera's server.
