Do not buy this hardware. Apprears to be no way to reset them to the new network. Have tried the soft and factory resets (neither seem to do anything). Can get the TP link network to come up. The switches appear to no longer function which means I will NOT by any KASA/TP LInk products in the future.

When you change your router and, subsequently, the SSID and password, the smart plug needs to be reset.  The process to reset the HS103 is holding the power button for about 30 seconds.  I know the User Guide says 10 seconds, but I find in most cases, customers tend to do a quick count, so a count of 30 usually gives enough time to reset the plug.  Once the light is flashing Amber and Blue you will be able to reconfigure the plug.

  @Carl Hmm, so I bought a bunch of these (11 or 12, need to go back and count) to replace our aging Wemo outlets, and initially set them up on our primary SSID, but want to move them to the (traffic one direction to protect clients on the main VLAN) IoT VLAN/SSID now.

 

You're saying I have to go get them or go around one-by-one and reset ALL of them, in order to change the SSID (or any similar action that would affect the SSID GUID or similar)?

 

Surely there's a better way than gathering all of them up or accessing them manually (a couple are in VERY difficult locations)?  I might be gathering them up and returning, instead, but want to clarify, first, thanks.

 

Wemo outlets/app are miserable in many ways, but you can remap the SSID, from the app, albeit in a clumsy way.

I am not familiar with Wemo products or how they are able to accomplish this, but for our older products like the HS103 are completely Wi-Fi based.  The default network that is only used to connect the product to your home Wi-Fi is only available in setup mode (like blinking blue/orange).  This means that when you wish to switch the plug to a new SSID you have to reset it back to default.  

 

In newer products, we have included a BlueTooth onboarding process that makes it more simple but you still need to set the product back to default.

  @Carl I'm pretty sure the Wemo plugs reset as well, but this is represented as a "switch SSID" method.  When I've done it in the past, you end up reconnecting to the hostspot SSID on the plug and going through partial setup, mostly joining it to the new SSID, and then it recalls/populates the rest of the info for the plug (naming, scheduling, etc.).

 

Am I understanding this correctly, in that for the Kasa plugs I have to physically use the button to do the same, or is there a similar no-contact method (saving time on ladders, etc.) to basically reset/readopt the plugs in question?
