Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

(I don't have the firmware version easily available at time of posting.)

I've been using my Archer A6 (AC1200) as the router plugged directly into my cable router, but I've moved, and no longer have physical access to the cable router. My PC does not have a wifi card, adapter or inbuilt capability, and I was wondering if I can use the A6 as a Standalone wifi adapter just for my PC? (Bridge Mode is out, as I'm not taking over router duty from the cable unit.)

Is this possible, or should I just buy a USB wifi adapter?

Take a look at travel routers as many allow WIFI input and you can connect an Ethernet device.

OK, got it running as a wifi extender, but am now running into odd connection failures - Steam won't connect, but will on my tablet connected via wifi to the cable router. Some, but not all, websites will time out, again from the PC through the Archer A6 acting as a wifi extender.

Will continue poking around.
