I had an electrician install the KS230 3-way and KS220 single pole switches on a new home construction.  The electricians son did much of the work an he wasn't  getting things done quickly and always seemed confused.   He reported a number of switches were faulty, had difficulty getting everything installed and now I can't seem to add a number of the switches.  Further, after the install, several switches became inoperable and he had to return and replace those...most all three ways.

Could he have damaged the switches during the install?  

I'm able to set many of the single and 3-way switches up on the Kasa app yet some just won't get recognized or allow programming.  All the switches work manually.
