  @Riley_S Please add the feature to change the speed of the effect. Without that, most of the effects are WAY too energetic.

Hey @Chais9519,145cc28c36eb4ab8acfaeaeed74a4335

This feature actually exists in the app, the speeds that you are seeing are tied to the different preset effects. You would need to edit one of these effects to change the speed.

Device Homepage > Effects > Customized Effect > Tap 'Create New'

When creating a custom effect, you are given the option to choose one of the existing effects to edit. You can then change the effect's colors, brightness, or animation speed.

  @Riley_S it appears this feature has been removed in the latest update. Please let me know how I can change the speed and brightness of preset or custom effects. When creating a custom effect, I am not given the option to edit a preset effect.

  @Badgerfan5,

I believe that this feature still exists for some smart lights but is generally being updated to use the features listed here: Tapo Lighting Effects 2.0 with 70 Unique Preset Lighting Effects. What specific smart light are you looking to customize an effect for?

It has been a while since I have taken an in-depth look at the updated feature to see if it was added, but I do not believe that the new version has the ability to take an existing effect and edit it. Instead, the new lighting platform adds the animations and effects that were used in the predefined effects.as a customizable option. This allows you to recreate the premade effects and allows for more in-depth customization.

  @Riley_S

Thank you for your reply! I am using a L930v1 firmware 1.1.2.

When creating a new custom effect, I am able to use the color painting option and utilize the six different dynamic effects, but there is no option to change the speed of the six dynamic effects in order to replicate the preset effects. All custom dynamic effects default to the fastest speed with no speed adjustment slider. It appears that that used to be an option in Lighting platform 1.0, but was removed in version 2.0.

8d910428ea7b40c0901511a874ff2352  @Riley_S there is no option to choose from the presets when creating a new effect. I go into the device, Effects, Custom.

I am seeing exactly the same limited options as @GirlFromtheWeb. However, some custom effects that I had created in the Kasa app for use with a KL430 strip have been carried over into the Tapo app and they still allow the speed to be changed. I hope the functionality to create from scratch can be restored.

  @Mike-C,

I don't have any news to really provide on the topic, however I can say that there are improvements to the lighting systems under development. I am not sure what the updates entail, but I would expect quite a few improvements to these systems. I would expect that we will begin to hear more about upcoming lights and features at CES so keep an eye out then - but we are only just now seeing glimpses of what might be coming.

Until then, I will make sure to forward the request to our teams again for consideration and to make sure that the request for a speed adjustment is still on their radar.
