@Paul_Michael Thank you so much for debugging this and provding a workaround! Crazy that this is still a problem almost two years after you posted your workaround.
Quick note if you are using a Deco router: You can use parental control to block your Light Strip (only way I found working). Just make sure you remove the device from the smart devices in the Deco app. Otherwise it won't show up when trying to add it to a profile. Then you can just block the profile indefinitely (see screenshot above).
