HS220 flicker once when turning on
I just set up a HS220 today and everything else works fine except for one problem, my default brightness is always 100%, and when I turn on the light, the brightness will flicker like 0%->100%->75%->100%, then it is stable. The light is a LED light, adjustment of brightness just works fine after turning on. I tried to change the fade on speed but that didn't help, any idea what the problem it might be? Any suggestion is appreciated.

@Carl assuming that it is not the bulb, what else would you consider?

Could be the wiring, It could be electircal noise such as from a motor on a ceiling fan. Could be a defect. But usually its the bulb. There are several types of dimming bulbs and the HS220 is only compatible with Incandescent/Halogen (forward phase control), based on TRIAC.

@Carl neutral wire nut was loose. I taped it and it does not flicker anymore.

@Carl is there another switch made by TP-Link that is compatible with LED bulbs and is a smart dimming switch? It's so harder to find incandescent/ halogen nowadays with everything going LED. Why would they ever make a switch now that doesn't work well with LEDs?

Hi Jack. Actually TP-Link Dimmable switches do support LEDs. It supports LED lights based on TRIAC and forward-phase-control, But does not support lights based on PWM (pulse width modulation) and ELV (electronic low voltage) dimming. So as long as your bulbs are TRIAC or Foward-Phase-Control you should have no issue with the bulb working.

@Carl how can I see if my bulbs are TRIAC?
