I'm trying to determine what, if any, are the differences between the AX50 and the AX3000?  From what I've read the specs are identical.

Reviewing the specs, network security and parental controls appear to be the main difference. https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax50/#specifications

@Carbo

The AX3000 is sold mainly for Walmart, and does not have HomeCare. The AX3000 does have parental controls and QoS, but built inhouse.

@Tony can you please assist me with the WPA3 confusion on the AX50? up until a month ago it was going to get WPA3 which is one of the reasons why i bought the AX50. Now I am being told I will never see it? What is going on?

@MKFlyers2K

Originally it was planned, but like you mentioned on your other posts, you were informed it has since changed.

All feedback is noted and we thank you for yours.

@Tony I just got the AX3000 from Target by mistake.  I want to find out a little more details before I've to deal with the return.  My reason to the retailer for the return would be TP-Link's confusing nomenclature of sister models.  From what I can gathered, the differences between the 2 models are: USB 3 and USB 2, Samba server, and Home Care features include parental controls.

Can you clarify on AX3000 support for HT160.  Side by side comparison on TP-Link's website shows AX50 supports, "5 GHz: 2402 Mbps (802.11ax, HT160)," while AX3000 supports "5 GHz: 2402 Mbps (802.11ax)."  Would this be the difference between wifi6 and wifi6e, thus speed differences from online reviews?

@Carbo According to TP-Link, this is what HT160 stands for:  https://www.tp-link.com/th/press/news/18450/

That's a HUGE difference hidden by 1 very small but important detail.  Given identical hardware, I think this is a firmware feature available to AX3000/AX50 only.  Can anyone tell me what's the deal with AX3000 and AX3000/AX50?

@Tony123

The AX3000 has 160 MHz for the 5G like the AX50, like you pointed out both are the same hardware.

The difference for the AX3000 is it has a USB 2.0 and only has Parental Controls and QoS.

@Carbo Could someone post FCC ID (located on the bottom sticker) for both; Archer AX50 and AX3000? We could go to the FCC and look for differences there, since the manufacturer is so vague about them. The other thing is, that amazon labels them as basically the same and you don't know what you're getting until one will show up at your door step.

I am not aware of any list of details of any router by the FCC. The FCC would be concerned with the WIFI radios of a router that they are not causing interference and that they are operating within specification as determined by law for the US. They would not be concerned with features such as USB support, encryption, VPN, number of ports, speed, Ethernet, or most of the other user interface options. It appears that you are using Amazon to base your compares. The info on almost all seller's websites are not by the manufacture, but by the seller or some third party seller. I have seen many mistakes in seller descriptions and most times they only give the major features due to space and readability. Use the manufactures information such as https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax3000/#specifications and https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax50/#specifications for compares. One thing I would caution is do not buy based on some future feature to be supported.

@mat_919

Buy the cheapest one. If usb speed is your concern, AX50 is about 1 MB/s faster than the USB 2.0 Archer AX3000
