Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20190403 rel.63869

There are a few issues with this router concerning access (no problems on my older V1 version)

 

1. Cannot Access with the latest version of Firefox 64bit on Windows 10

The screen just hangs and causes major issues with Firefox in that all the tabs I have stop working and I need to restar Firefox.

 

2. Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 pretty much always fails password 1st time while second time works.

Edge hates the self signed certificate that TP-Link uses

 

3. Firefox and Microsoft Edge give SSL Cirtificate warnings.

 

 

Does anyone have a fix for any of these issues?

The self cert errors will happen, but since the site accessing is a local site that is fine. If you were accessing a banking institution and got cert errors, that is a big problem.

 

How does Chrome react?

@Watchowner Now (December 2019), Chrome no longer provides the option to "accept the risk" and proceed to a site with a self-signed certificate.  Neither does Safari, but the current version Firefox, 71.0, does. I do not understand why I cannot have a CA signed certificate. I believe Firefox will soon refuse self-signed certs.  Further, how is my router communicating with tplinkwifi? Is that traffic encrypted?  What prevents a Black Hat from taking over my router?  Has it happened already?

Furthermore, the certificate is so bad, Firefox can't interpret it.

Sorry, I misreported Chrome's behavior. Chrome 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) reports this, and no option to override. "10.0.1.1 normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Google Chrome tried to connect to 10.0.1.1 this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be 10.0.1.1, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Google Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged." "You cannot visit 10.0.1.1 right now because its certificate has been revoked. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later."

The tplinkwifi.net is meant to take you directly to your router assuming you are on the routers local network. If you are not you will see a webpage with helpful information on connecting to your TP-Link router locally.

 

Using tplinkwifi.net is similar to trying to use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 while connected to the TP-Link local network.

@Watchowner No, https://tplinkwifi.net/webpages/login.html doesn't work either. I get the same error -
