[HS-110] What are added services of remote activation?

I just got my SmartPlug 110 and am using it 'locally' which is all I need at this time. Since the 110 collects data I am wondering if using the remote (cloud) function would give me more than one month of data or any other functions other than just being able to turn on the unit from outside of my local network?
