I'm running a COX Panoramic wifi modem with my TP-link Archer AXE75 router.  The modems wifi is interferring with my tp link wifi.

Is there a way of putting my Tp-link router in bridge mode so it doesn't see the cox wifi?

Generally you put the modem in bridge mode and have the router handle both Ethernet and WIFI devices.

The router does not have a bridge mode. You could put the router in AP mode and turn off the WIFI in the settings if that is what you need.

@ArcherC8  I'm running a lot of wifi devices along with a few wired connections. Will everything still work the same in AP or will just the wired devices work?

In AP mode you can have both Ethernet and wireless.

The dual modem/router combo supplied by your ISP are called a gateway. When in bridge mode (or passthru mode) they will perform only as a modem (not as a router). So you need a router attached to it and all your devices attact to the router.

If you use the gateway as a gateway, then it performs both functions (modem and router). When you attach a router to a gateway in normal (gateway) mode, the router is put in AP mode so addressing does not get messed up.  APs are used to extend the network. Devices can be set up to attach to either the gateway or to the AP.  Use different SSIDs on the gateway and router.

@ArcherC8 So, do you thing this would be a good solution to keep my COX wifi connection from showing up in my list of available wifi sources list?  If so I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to put my router in AP mode 😃

Where do you plan to put the Ethernet connections?

The Cox gateway, your router, or both?

If on the router, put the Cox in Bridge (passthru) mode and the router will be the only thing connected to the Cox gateway. The router will be in router mode.

Otherwise, leave the Cox gateway in normal mode and the router in AP mode. For most routers, the setting is in the advance settings under system.

I prefer to put the gateway into bridge (passthru mode) (or replace it with your own Cox supported modem so you do not pay rent on the gateway) and put all the devices on the router. A router in router mode has more options than a router in AP mode.

I have my own xfinity supported modem for over 12 years and have a router attached to it. My network has over 30 devices both ethernet and WIFI.
