Is your HP printer/scanner connected to the main network, or to the extender?

If it is connected through the extender and you are able to print over the network, then you should theoretically have the ability to scan as well - assuming the printer/scanner's settings and its software are properly configured.

Have you tried contacting HP support for assistance with troubleshooting the network scanning ability of your device? If it is connected to the network and printing already, they should be able to help diagnose why the scanning feature is not functioning correctly.
