Security features turn off unknowingly
Access control white list has been working for a few weeks. Now the security feature turns its self off unknowingly. I return to the router and the security is off.

Hey @WinkEye,
I think we may need a bit more information to help find a cause.
Has this behavior only happened once or is the behavior repeatable?
Are you able to confirm that unlisted devices can connect to the network?
Does the status show the same in the Tether App vs WebUI?
Has there been any significant network changes recently? (Such as adding an Access Point or Switch)
Lastly, what does your network topology look like?

Hi thanks for the response. Answers to questions.
Q:Has this behavior only happened once or is the behavior repeatable?
A: It happens ever now and then. When it does it the only way to get it to stop is to turn off the access control switch(in the GUI) save and return it on.
Q:Are you able to confirm that unlisted devices can connect to the network?
A:When Access control is on (White List) No unlisted devices can connect. When its off any authenticated device can connect.
Q:Does the status show the same in the Tether App vs WebUI?
A: Access control is not an option in the Tether App that i can find. This condition only manifest in the web UI.
Q:Has there been any significant network changes recently? (Such as adding an Access Point or Switch)
A: No changes
Q:Lastly, what does your network topology look like?
A:Single router and switch, Single Outbound gateway, Class C, 50 hosts.
Thanks

Our team indicates that there are really only two possible things that could have happened since the software design does not let it disable itself. Either it was disabled manually, or you have used the block devices feature, particularly in the Tether App. The Block devices features is actually using the blacklist feature so blocking an individual device will swap the behavior from whitelist to blacklist mode. Have you used the block device feature before?
Otherwise, they say that there is nothing in the software design that could disable the setting other than someone or something using your login. Either way, you should change the password for your TP-Link ID just in case, and enable 2FA if you have not already.

I understand the diffrence between a white list and a black list. I also know this systsm only uses one or the other which is a pain but i know that is the case. I use the white list and have it on and it turns it self off with out any changes as previously stated. It's a defect! It is very troubling and makes this product unsecure as it has no other features like key change mitigation. Ect. Other than that i like this router and have used them in several places.
