Step by step set up as extender or AP?
I hope someone cn help.
Objective: I want to set this router out in a travel trailer approx 60 feet from the main router connected to the internet in the house.
I have wireless cameras outside that I want to be able to connect as they are to far away from the house router.
I think, maybe, the WR640N should be bridged to the Centurylink CL1100Z House modem not sure
I do not want the WR640N connected to an ethernet cable out in the travel trailer. I did have an almond securifi that died and trying to use this router as a replacement.
The main thin is after setting up, how to connect? I hope someone has specific instructions for me.. I thought I had it setup as a extender, didn't seem to connect, light stayed red. Then I tried AP but nothing ether... Thanks

For a wireless connection, use extender mode. The key to extender is to place the extender in an area where you get a good WIFI signal that it can pass along. Get it working about 10 feet from your router, before moving it to where you need it.

@ladyh okay, I had it sitting next to the router but the red light just kept flashing. I'm guessing the light needs to turn green and then move it out to the travel trailer and plug it in and wait for the light to turn green again? Do I need to do anything to my main router to see the tp? how do I bridge it? Does the main router need to be bridged as well?

Use this video for detailed setup steps for WR940N. When choosing an IP address for WR940N use an IP address in the same subnet your main router is.
If your main router has a LAN IP address 192.168.0.1, you can set WR940N a static IP address as 192.168.0.254:
and WR940N's DHCP server disabled:

@terziyski Thank you! Good video, am stuck on the wireless settings...wireless name of root AP--I have 4 ssid wireless on my PC, not sure what root AP would be windows 10.
my main router has the same IP as the TP router 192.168.0.1
wireless name of extender? Static IP when my ISP is DHCP, yes DHCP is disabled on that menu? IP address is the same as my main router. I used one of my SSID's in the root AP, the TL light is blue, but my camera's now aren't connecting :-(((

If your main router wireless SSID is "NAME" set the WR940 extended network to "NAME_ext", thus you'll know to which SSID you're connected at any time.
If your main router LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1 then set WR940 IP address to 192.168.0.254, thus you'll know the WR940N IP address at any time.

@terziyski my main router SSID (sticker on the router) is CenturylinkXXXX but when I run an IP scanner my Zyxel communications (modem) name is modem.Home ?? weird
I used one of the names is my wireless setting that showed up in the list when I clicked on Survey. The TL has a blue light and in the travel trailer, but I don't know if anything would connect or now...I'm ready to give up.

If your main router is Zyxel communications (modem) you have to to sure what's its wireless SSID.
When clicking on Survey button in WR940N, you should select this very SSID (and correct password) for all this to work.
If you're not sure what's the Zyxel communications (modem) SSID just turn it off and scan in WR940N to check what's the missing SSID.
When you are certain about the Zyxel communications (modem) SSID, turn it on and in WR940N "Survey" select the correct SSID.
As already have been mentioned by @ArcherC8 you should do this when both deices are near enough.
Once successfully configured you may put the WR940N in your trailer.

@terziyski ok I didn't see the zyxtel modem there was a blank one....Can I reconfigure without putting the router back into factory settings? I can't connected it to the internet with my active modem and before it messed everything up and and to delete the internet icon and set up a new one to get my internet back.
When I run the IP scanner it shows: Name 192.168.0.25 IP 192.168.0.25 manufacturer: TP LINK technologies and the mac address...This scanner shows what is on my network so whatever I put in it is showing but don't know if it's connected, even tho blue light is on.

If the IP scanner shows that, then it's on your network and the best approach is to open its web management page in a web browser http://192.168.0.25

@terziyski ok I'll try that..I pinged it earlier and it replied, but now it's not.. I connected to a laptiop got in to the web UI, did that survey my router is not showing only local and my SSDI's but not modem when I log into my modem interface I don't use that ssid and pass listed on the modem only 192.168.0.1
however when I go into the 192.168.25 web ui for the wr940n i have internet because my laptop keeps connected to my first router
screwed it up my modem was found on my laptop wifi but wouldn't connect I changed the ip to 254 and now I can't connect to the web interface. arrrrrrrrrrgh
Just a heads-up for anyone coming across the fault reported here:
There is a bug in the firmware that means that if the router ends up with a LAN other than 192.168.0.0/24, the you're unable to edit the DHCP settings. They are greyed out.
This occurs is you connect to an existing 192.168.0.0/24 network and the router switches to a LAN of 192.168.1.0/24
AFAIK, there is no way to get around this bug aside from disconnecting from the 192.168.0.0/24 upstream network, change LAN to 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0, change the DHCP settings, reconnect and hope it works on the new LAN.
