Model: Archer BE900
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20230523 rel.35975(5553)

I'm getting an error when trying to downgrade to the previous firmware because the recently released firmware is causing havoc on my 2.4G network. My 2.4G devices are losing connectivity and I know for sure that it's due to the new firmware. I have state of the art internet monitoring systems setup in my home which are my 2 kids! I haven't heard this much crying from them since the last time we went on a family cruise and I failed to purchase an internet pack. I'm guessing that my error is due to a downgrade block. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I work for a technology based company and I'm proficient at reading and following steps, so I have also covered the basic troubleshooting. I have tried multiple browsers, downloaded multiple firmware of the same, and ONLY the current version will work. Also, I have factory reset the router and performed a couple of updates of the same, and only version that would work, just in case I had performed a bad flash. So, if anyone could help on the downgrade or if Tp-link could resolve the 2.4G issue with the current firmware.

Hello @nunyabiziz

As I can confirm, this 1.1.1 version cannot be downgraded to the previous 1.0.3 version due to significant firmware modifications.

Are you saying the 2.4G wireless connection is pretty stable before you upgrade the firmware from 1.0.3 to 1.1.1? Were there any other changes in the network? How many devices are connected to the 2.4G network and will they still see the network when the internet is unavailable?

If the 2.4G connection is not stable, please try to modify the 2.4G wireless network settings on the BE900 to avoid some wireless interference, then observe if it will become stable.

BTW, how about the two 5G connections, are they stable?

  @nunyabiziz hello Kevin_Z

The prior firmware wasn't rock solid stable but my 2.4g devices weren't consistently disconnecting from the network as it has on the latest. I have a little more than 100+ devices total, 60 of which are devices on 2.4g. It's a major pain now that my IoT devices keep dropping connectivity. Automated blinds and lights are unable to perform tasks on schedule. What makes this worse is that my blinds in the great room are about 16ft up so it's not a simple task to get to them so I could do a reset to get them back online. I have been dealing with connectivity issues since the 18th. I have made some adjustments to the 2.4g band. I went from 20/40Mhz width to just 20Mhz in hopes of decreasing possible interference. Also disabled airtime fairness to alleviate any device disconnection. There hasn't been any change to my network that I could see that might result in increased wireless interference that wasn't there before. Kinda funny but I had the BE800 but decided to go to the BE900 due to the higher number of connected devices advertised for the latter as it being marketed as the flagship model. Of the 2 routers, the BE800 was the more stable unit. Maybe I have a lemon of a BE900. Sorry I forgot, the 5G seems stable but I had hoped that there would be increase of coverage range with this update. One last thing, does the BE900 support MLO?

@nunyabiziz

Thank you so much for getting back with all the provided details, we appreciate it.

I have reported this issue to the development team and they are working on a version of firmware that will allow you to downgrade to the previous version. BTW, I have also escalated your case to our support engineers, and they will help provide the downgrade firmware.

Upon waiting for the firmware, can you please be kind of telling me if you're still using the Archer BE800? Or you have replaced it with the BE900 now?

  @nunyabiziz

Thank you to Kevin_Z and the technical support team from TP-Link with your assistance in providing a solution to my problem. Feedback for firmware 1.1.1, the 2.4G definitely got thumbs down 👎 but the 5G was solid and I didn't noticed any disconnection of the devices on these radios. I'm still looking forward to future performance enhancements to this beast of a router. Coming from the Asus Axe16000 with the Axe11000 as a mesh unit, the BE900 doesn't provide the same coverage and understandably so. It does meet my expectations as a bridge between for my Fiber 5Gig internet and 10GbE home network.

@nunyabiziz

Thank you so much for the update and I'm happy to see the connection becomes stable again.

Please don't worry, the developers will continue to analyze why this issue happened and may update the firmware if that is confirmed or addressed.

Let me know if there is anything new that comes up or if you have other inquiries. Nice day.
