OpenWRT is an open source project with a large enthusiast community. It would be helpful if TP-Link could provide drivers and binary blobs for VDSL to the OpenWRT community. This would encourage this community to use OpenWRT.

Another alternative would be to release a product that has OpenWRT pre-installed with VDSL drivers. I am sure many in the community would buy this product, including myself.

Regrettably, this isn't likely to happen.  While TP-Link routers, for the most part, are capable of running 3rd party firmware, doing so isn't officially supported.  Additionally running 3rd party firmware on your router will void the product's warranty.   If your product supports 3rd party firmware its product page will have a GPL file available to download.  That would be the most support TP-Link would provide.
