  @Riley_S I still think for trying to keep users happy that TP-Link would consider adding the channel number feature as an option for its Deco product line.  It would keep this in line with other wifi mesh products from competitors that already offer this feature.

I understand that the Deco router is suppose to select a uncrowded channel but from my experience so far this is not the case.  It seems to get fixiated on a single channel 48 in my case which from looking at a wifi analyzer of networks around me is actually a very crowded channel.  I would love to utilize the channel 149 through 165 at 5 GHz and I can't seem to do that.

  @Riley_S

3138636I have Model S4 Deco but it doesn't work with my T-Mobile 5G home internet.  The extenders need to handle Wifi 6.  If I purchase this new Deco will it work with the S4 models?

  @Hermosa,

I am a little unclear on what requirements you have your network, such as what device is requiring Wi-Fi 6;

however, our deco series is meant to work together to provide easy upgrade avenues for situations such as this. The Deco XE200 will work in tandem with your S4 units, but your connections to the nodes will still be limited by the technology of the S4 units. This means that fi you only have one XE200, the 6Ghz network cannot be used as a part of your mesh configuration and will instead appear as a separate network; and your backhaul between units will still use the 2.4 and 5Ghz frequencies.

While upgrading the main unit can improve overall connection efficiency and speed, the same benefits are not always passed down the line to the decos supporting previous generations of Wi-Fi

  @Riley_S will this be getting the new HomeShield 3.0 announced at CES 2023?  There is little to no information on which models will get it, and I'm hopeful by its not just the Wi-Fi 7 ones?

  @Astone595 I'd like to see how this function can be accomplished as well

  @Richardj186,

I want to say that the home shield 3.0 update is more of an update to the service than it is to the technology. From what I can tell, the update will not be limited to the newest Wi-Fi 7 decos, and the features will be added to already released decos. TP-Link is also planning to manufacture Wi-Fi 6/6E decos for the foreseeable future, so it is not as though Wi-Fi 7 will immediately be replacing older technologies.

Our team actually does not have too much information regarding the details of the tech. However, I was able to learn that the feature should be released in the coming months. When it comes to firmware updates, if it is necessary, the updates are usually rolled out to our most popular, flagship, and newest releases first.

  @HardyR2P;

As this is not currently a planned feature for deco, I would recommend creating a thread on our feature requests module so that our team can properly track the request once we provide the feedback to the development teams.
