Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Is there a way to build a wifi network but keep the 2.4 and 5 with different passwords?  I have some devices that simply do not "talk" on a mixed network.  I also need to to be able to access all of the devices as well.  I do not want to create VLANs for each one.  Thank you.

  @RalphY001,

Most devices that say they can only operate on a 2.4 Ghz network can often operate just fine on a mixed network; however there are some devices where this seems to be the easy answer for connectivity issues.

While the deco can disable either band, it cannot create separate SSIDs for the two different networks. What many of our users do, is that they will enable their guest network on their Decos, this is almost always exclusively a 2.4 Ghz band that will allow for the easy assignment of devices from within the Deco Interface. You just have to make sure that the settings are enabled to let the devices on the guest network see devices on the main network.

  @Riley_S

Thanks for the reply.  I've gone thru this with another brand n some of the devices are old and would not connect in a mixed environment.  I thought maybe I missed something on this one. I already did open the guest network. I was hoping to use for my guests.  It also poses a security risk to my main network. Might have to return this. Again thank you

  @RalphY001 Ralph,

I have found that most devices that refuse to connect to a Mesh when it is a combined 5Ghz & 2.4Ghz are just fussy about the initial connection, when there are two different radio signals with the same SSID.

So I always disable the 5Ghz radio, go to the fussy device and connect. When the fussy device only sees the 2.4Ghz network it easily connects.

Then go back and turn the 5Ghz radio on again.

The fussy devices will continue to happily use the 2.4Ghz radio as their connection.

Problem Solved.

Thanks for the reply and a solution.  I've decided to return the units and acquire a product that meets my needs.
