I recently purchased the AX10000 to replace a Netgear router.

 

I connected a laser printer that unfortunately does not have wifi capability into the USB port of the router.

 

I even installed the USB Printer Controller which I downloaded from the TP-Link site, but it does not find the printer (The Netgear has an identical looking utility, and it worked flawlessly).

 

I am thinking it may be something stupid in terms of a setting or something, but does anybody have a clue what I need to do to get this to work?

I hear you, but TP-Link isn't alone these days.

 

Print Server's were needed when there were few wireless ones. I think in a thread here, maybe one I referenced, about printer servers TP-Link employee said they were phasing them out I think other vendors have too.

 

Google 'Print Server usb to wireless' and there are many to choose from. Some are much cheaper than a new printer.

You havre a different router from what you wrote in the Suject and text vs. the model #?

 

If you indeed have an AX11000, not supported, see this link, https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/259062

 

I'll assume you were able to locate the USB Printer Utility, and also followed this page, https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/415/ and that 'Applies to' pulldown on the top doesn't list either router even.

 

The Support page for the AX10000 doesn't show it under the UTILITY tab either.

 

This would all indicate to me it isn't supported?

The reason the model number I selected (AX11000) was different than what I wrote in the Subject (AX10000), is because the AX10000 does not even show up in the drop down menu to select. How stupid is that? Pretty poor data entry for the drop down menu.

 

I guess it is almost inconceivable that any router would not support that. But I guess it does not. Pretty bummed about that, but what can I do? I just wish I knew that beforehand. I know, I know, just buy a new printer, but I have a perfectly good workhorse that does the job well, so why throw it out?
