I would like to use my Android smartphone instead of a 3G/4G USB stick, to provide internet via the USB port is it possible?

You would connect the 902AC to a wireless network or connect an Ethernet cable to the device in order to receive an internet connection. The USB slot would be for sharing USB hard drive data, not to send a internet connection through.
