You might be looking at the wrong 'thing'.

Wired depends on the Network cable and ports. A 1GB port with a Cat6 cable will do close to 1GB.

Wireless, just like wired, you need the right combination to achieve the desired speed. The router serving up the wireless speed and the wireless device to handle it.

For instance, an 802.11 N Speed rated wireless adapter will connect at 867Mbps...but in reality you might only get 1/2 that speed as throughput. That requires a router that will transmit 5Ghz SSID at 900Mbps. AC speed devices will connect faster. 1,200Mbps or faster depending on model/make. I've got a 1,300Mbps wireless device that connects at that speed. 650Mbps throughput would be good on that.

AX is the next bump up. However, there are many variations on that and what it can transmit in terms of speed.
