OK .. maybe somebody can answer this.  I purchased an AC1750 (Archer A7) and an RE450 .. my hope was to build a mesh that would give me decent coverage . I have a modest 2 story home .. the A7 by iteself gets a signal to most of it .. all of it but very weak in some spots so figured the RE450 would make it a solid one network setup.

I have the 450 in .. used the RE button and WPS and all lights are lit.  In the WEB interface of the A7 I see the Archer and a Onemesh icon .. shows many devices on wireless but "0" next the Onemesh even tho the RE450 is in a room where 2 laptops are up and running as well as an echo device.

Am I missing part of a setup or is this RE450 not a one mesh device? Why is nothing connecting to it?

@ChestersFriend

The RE450 is not OneMesh compatible. When the RE450 is configured using the WPS method, the extender uses the same name as your main network.

I would recommend you log into the extender and modify the extended wireless network to something else so you know you are connecting to the extender. With both the extender and router having the same network name it is up to the device which signal to connect to.

If you want to reconfigure the extender, hold the reset button on the side for 15 seconds while it is plugged in. Then start the first method of set up mentioned here: https://static.tp-link.com/7106507633_RE450%20V2_QIG.pdf
