TP-Link AC1900 Monitor Mode Windows 10
I am trying to capture Wi-Fi packets between a device and my Wi-Fi AP. I purchased a TP-Link AC1900 (Archer T9UH) as I've read that it is one of the recommended USB dongles that can be enabled to run in "monitor mode" and forward Wi-Fi packets back to my computer so that I can create a .pcap file to analzye in Wireshark.
How do I "enable monitor mode"? The driver download did not come with a GUI or something else that would allow me to enable this feature.

Monitor mode was supported with the Linux driver release of 5/8/2018: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-t9uh/#Driver
If you are looking for a recent driver, you may need to look up the chipset maker drivers. The Archer T9UH is based off of the Realtek RTL8814AU chipset.

What would it take to enable monitor mode for windows? Could a powershell script somehow enable it? I know the product "Acrylic" is able to enable it through their GUI somehow.

Seems like it could be related to npcap: https://ask.wireshark.org/question/10229/how-can-i-enable-monitor-mode-within-win10-os/
I think you may need to load a Linux distro since the release notes mention it work in monitor mode.

That doesn't really help since I want it to work on Windows 10. Can TPLink provide a resource for this?
There are 3rd party paid for software packages out there that seem to have figured out how to reverse engineer the communication with the OS somehow to do it on Windows 10.
I would imagine that TPLink would be able to comment on it as well since they designed it.

No, we do not have firmware to get monitor mode for Windows, that is why the release notes for the Linux drivers only mention it.

I'm trying to do the same thing. However Acrylic throws an error when going into monitor mode.

@zeppster Acrylic had worked for me for many months, but now is giving me trouble. I'm able to push the button to enable monitor mode, but it gives me an error when I try and start the capture. The AP no longer even shows up in wirehsark.
