Firmware Version: 1.0.15 Build 20200721 rel.40773(5553)

After updating my A7 to a new firmware a few days ago, today, it started acting up. The following issues occured:

 

  • Random minute or two of internet connection disappearing when the green led for internet connection stays green
    • Despite the led for internet connection staying green, all connected devices suddenly do not have internet connection for a while before miraculously coming back.
    • I spoke to TPLink support and they were not helpful.
  • High CPU load, almost always at 100.

 

What should I do? I'm considering downgrading my firmware to the previous version but haven't found a resource online for telling me how to do so.

The current firmware release notes do not state you are not able to downgrade so you would download the previous release and upload it like you did with the new firmware: https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-a7/#Firmware

 

If you are based in the US that link should auto direct you to your region of US.

I've been getting the same issues.  I'll give it one more day and downgrade.

After updating to the latest version of the firmware (1.0.16 Build 20201029) yesterday, I encountered a similar issue. I was losing connection over a period of around 10 minutes, which I was temporarily able to fix by restarting the router only to lose connection again after 10 minutes. I tried downgrading to 1.0.15 Build 20200721, where the problem was still present and then to 1.0.14 Build 20200220, which thankfully resolved it, because it was the oldest version of the firmware available for download.

 

I hope this gets fixed in the upcoming releases, as I would like to upgrade at some point, but at the moment it really isn't an option, as this problem prevents me from using the router.
