Have a very strange problem. My main router is a TP-Link Archer C1200. I have installed a the TP-Link RE650 not very far from the main router.

The problem is that most devices including my IMac and my iPhoneXR lose the internet after short intervals. The fix is to reconnect to the Wifi which I do generally by switching between 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I do not restart any of the routers as all lights are working fine.

 

I have maintained the same SSID on the router and the extender. I never restart any of the routers but just by switching between 2.4 and 5ghz it starts to work. It even works if I switch my phone to airplane mode and reconnect to the same WIFI.

 

the firmware on both the routers has been updated to the latest and the same for my devices.

 

I have installed the Tether app on my phone and it always shows all routers to be working fine even when my apps on my phone are not getting data. Even the Speedtest during this time shows perfect results when the apps are not working.

 

Has anybody else had the same issue?

I use different SSIDs on my extender than my main router and have not had any issues. I have iMac, iPads, a Windows PC, plus a host of other devices. On the extender, I do use one network for transmit and the other for receive.

@Ankz74 i am facing similar problem my wifi extender is changing password after it is switched off.smiley

Ankz74 - Use separate networks. - In the Tether app, In tools, there is a High speed mode, where you set the extender up to talk to the router on one band and use the other band to talk to the devices on the other.

Melson Losing password with power off. Be sure you have pressed "save" after the change.

@ArcherC8 been trying to look for this. I can't see anything called High Speed under tools. Will this be when I select the router or the extender?

 

this is what I see under tools for the router and after that the tools menu under the extender

Interesting... When I go to the RE220 "tools" , I have "One Mesh" and "High Speed" mode under the "Host Network". I am using an iPad (up to date) using the latest version of Tether. My RE220 is also running the current version of the firmware. I have it in Range Extender mode (not Access Point mode)
