After setting up the 2.4Ghz, my 5ghz channel is no longer available, unless it's called "Hidden". Any ideas?

Did you ENABL Smart Connect? If so, both band use the same SSID and PASSWORD.

Did you power cycle the router?

I would do a reset to factory, and reenter the settings.

@jimwrye

What are you actually seeing? A screen capture of the Wireless page fields (with you P/W blocked out) would help.

Otherwise confirm the following data:

  • How you determined that the 5Ghz is not available or showing?
  • All Bands have the Wireless Radio Enabled.
  • All Bands have the Hide SSID unchecked.
  • Each Band has a UNIQUE SSID.
  • That the 5Ghz channel is proper for your country (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels). I suspect since it worked before, this is not an issue.

Does the CONNECTED devices ALL show as on the 2.4Ghz Band (not SSID), but you may need the Mobile Thresher App to see this clearly.

I suspect that turning off Smart Connect (you never confirmed you had it on, but from your replies I assume you did) may NOT have reset the 5Ghz SSID. If you never set one, than it had nothing to restore, so it left the 5Ghz SSID as the same as the 2.4Ghz SSID. Above items when answered should clear that up (or a screen capture).

Don't think one needs to do a re-boot or reseet of the router to change from Smart Connect on to off, but it would always be wise to do a reboot anyway.
