Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have a Xbox with a Deco unit 3 feet from it.  Why does the Xbox connect to a different unit 100 ft away on a different floor?

Same happens with a Visio TV on the same floor.

We also get frequent disconnects.  I'm ready to return the x20 kit since it doesn't match the reviews and is very troublesome.

Please advise.

@FrankieT

A mesh network works by support 802.11 k/v/r/ protocols which tells a device the best node to connect to. If a device does not support those protocols then the device will connect to any node it wants to, and the Deco can not tell it otherwise.

Rather then a Mesh you may want to look at other means such as a powerline adapter or a network that has unique SSIDs to make sure your devices do not connect to a network you do not want it to.
