RE650 Issues
Hi.
Most of the time, the range extender works well. There are some times when only unplugging then plugging back in will resolve:
Loss of the 5G path
Connection with 5G, but no internet
Perpetual "connecting" message
With time, instances of these scenarios increase.
Is there a firmware update available?
Thank you.

If the 2.4G remains connected try moving the extender closer to the router. The 5G does not have that far of a reach compared to the 2.4G. What you can also try is to place the extender in the same room of the router just to see if the 5G still drops out.

If the extender is already using the latest firmware then I would reach out to support to see if the 5G connection is bad on the extender.

hi.
Thank you for your reeply.
I do not know if the device is running the latest firmware. I've posed that question to the support organization.
Thanks,
Marvin

There are a couple of ways to log into the extender to find out.
Connect your computer to the Extender Wi-Fi and in the web browser type: http://tplinkrepeater.net
If that does not work, log into the router and see what the IP is of the extender and use that in the web browser.
The default login for the extender is:
username: admin
password: admin
Once you are logged in, the web page should show the firmware build on the bottom.
Here are the firmware releases where you can compare the build number which is a date: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/re650/#Firmware
Here is a FAQ on how to upgrade the firmware: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1406/
