Just bought the most expensive router I have ever bought in my life and find that there is no way to use the capabilities of the router unless I want to tear all my computer apart (and spend another $50 one each one of them).  There are NO AX adapters, except PCI, for use with any of the AX routers anywhere.  And, according to the documentation that came with the router, there is a good chance it won't work with existing AC adapters.  WOW...  talk about vaporware!  Seems like we should release hardware when we have hardware that will make it work, not hope someone will make hardware to make it work!

That is the problem with most things. You can be at the leading edge or the bleeding edge. A look back at history you can find many examples where one or more companies go a direction but the industry does not follow although the direction was better. But with all changes, someone needs to be the leader. In this case it is the router industry. The same thing happened with 'G' to 'N' and 'N' to 'AC'. Even now, many devices do not support AC. How many ISPs can support the AX speeds let alone the AC speeds as you are only as fast as your slowest link? And if you attach slower devices to WIFI, that will slow it down by the nature of how WIFI works so you will need to upgrade all your devices to get the full benefit. So you remember the IBM 50Z (I had one) and the Sony Betamax. I also was in the computer industry for 50 years.

The AC adapters I have seen have issues are the Intel ones where they can not see the AX networks. The solution is to update the drivers which worked on my computer when I first tried connecting to the AX50.

We just called them all, regardless of version, PS2. But yea, and a LOT farther back than that. The PS2 was "new" stuff to us. We ran the first CompuStar terminal from Boise ID to Ogden UT as a remote terminal on a 300 baud modem (upgrade to 1200 when they finally figured out how make the stream stable so it didn't give 50% failures on the checksum) to the mainframe for data access. Try that today, kids don't know how good they have it.

My first home computer was a Commodore 128 (not the more popular 64). The first company PC was a CP/M based machine (which IMO was better than Microsoft's PC DOS) with visacalc and wordstar. I programmed mainframes, the first did not have a disk drive and only 4.8 K of memory. Amazing how far we have come. The first modems we used required dedicated lines from the phone company for remote processing. The 150 baud dial up was a game changer which evolved into what we have today.

I have a set of WordStar and Visacalc disks in CP/M format if your interested in reliving, and have a LOT of extra time to wait on a very slow process. Just to save a file to disk took minutes, not seconds as today. Even have a functional Zorba that can format any CP/M format disk and make copies!

Got rid of all my old machines and floppy disks a long time ago. Even CDs are thing of the past. At work, we had windows PCs for connection to all the mainframes (VSE, MVS, Unix, iSeries, ...) Now I have only one Windows laptop which is used as a monitor for my security system. I have switched to Apple and been very happy. I do have a small stack of 5081 cards somewhere.

Installed the AX11000 this morning (actually installed it three times but only because I always try to break things when first put to use) and I have to apoloizes to TP-Link for giving them guff here before trying their router, it installed perfect the first time (even though it defaulted to the wrong local IP net, a quick chat online with support got that fixed, that was the 3rd install) and it found all of my old wireless devices even though some of them are 10 years old and wouldn't know a new driver if they saw one. It apparently reconfigured some of the devices on it's own, I know they were not on the default local IP but they showed up anyway. Even managed to install a wireless printer that has NEVER worked on it's wireless connection since bought two year ago, has always had to be wired to work.  Only one problem left and this one might be a little tricky.  May be more on that later.  Anyway, I apoloize TP-Link, but maybe all the reservations you put in the instructions aren't needed and just make people leery of buying your products.
