Try to disconnect or turn off all devices, even that one with the lag spike, then use something else to test the ping. It could be something pulling the bandwidth or the device itself.

thanks for your advise, I've changed the channel and will play around with that, I'll also try disabling guest 5g and "gaming" 5g network.

This weekend I'll rename the network and will only have 1 device connected at a time and will try to isolate the issue.

Ya, that would be best to try. I was looking at other threads searching, and one person found their OneDrive kept syncing. Likely not it, but something may be running in the background causing it.

so I'm still investigating and playing around. Going to hook up old ubiquiti AC access point to one of the ports and see if I can see same issue.
