Look at other wireless devices to see if they can see the hotspot, just to verify the hotspot is actually on and working. If not, something is up with the hotspot.
If you can see other wireless networks then you have the USB adapter installed correctly.
If the hotspot is working, try changing the network name to something completely different and rescan with your computer.
Finally, if you happen to have another computer use the USB adapter on that to see if the problem follows the adapter or stays with the computer.

@Pretty If you are picking up Wi-Fi signals then the adapter is working.
Some wifi hotspots will transmit on different standards such as these
ac
a
n
b
g
If you are on Windows 10
1) Press the Windows Key (bottom left on the keyboard)
2) Type NETWORK and Hit Enter
3) Now Select STATUS
4) now on the right side look for 'change your network settings' and you are looking for CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS ...click on it
5) You should see your Network Connections
6) Look for the one you are on like WIFI 4 or TP-Link... and RIGHT CLICK ON IT
7)Select Properties.... and then click the Box that says CONFIGURE
8) Select the ADVANCED TAB
9) AAt the bottom of this window there should be a selection for WIRELESS MODE
10) See what mode you are on... Wifi hotspots in my area are generally on 'N' however there are a few that are on 'A' and 'AC'
Try to select which one they are transmitting on if you are set to ac and they are transmitting on 'n' then you won't see the signal...
Some wireless modes give you an option of selecting 'auto' but it may see a different signal and want to set to that...
After you change anything in the advance tab the Adapter will cut the signal and then reconnect.
