Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I have a VPN provider and would like to be able to connect to them via my router if possible so I don't have to run the client on all of my machines. The Archer C7 is able to connect using L2TP just fine, but I'm not sure if my traffic is being encrypted or not. Does the router encrypt my traffic for me using IPSec before sending it to the VPN provider or is it being sent unencrypted?

@S0_B00sted

When the Archer C7 sends the credentials to obtain a connection the data is unencrypted. I believe this is why VPN providers such as NordVPN discontinued being able to utilize L2TP along with PPTP.

The original feature did not have VPN makers in mind but rather rural ISPs as a way to connect to get internet.
