I am having an issue with editing the connected clients (wired and wireless) descriptions.  From the basic tab, I can edit device names for wired/wireless clients, however, those edits do not appear on the tether app, QoS screen, or the traffic monitor screen. If I update device names via the tether app, those edits make it to the QoS screen, but do not make it to the basic screen or the traffic monitor screen. finally, within the traffic monitor screen, i am able to modify the client descriptions, but those changes are not saved as soon as i navigate away from that screen, the edited descriptions are removed. i have reached out to tp link support and the issue has been elevated to a senior engineer, but i was wondering if anyone else has this issue or has a possible solution. 

 

i did read somewhere that another router an issue like this last year and a firmware fix was in the works for it, but that does not seem to be the case here as i have downloaded the most recent firmware and the issue is still present. thanks.

Seems like TP-Link has never update the firmware of C4000... The so called the latest is the initial release and that was release in Mar/Apr 2018.

It seems adding address reversations fixes the problem.

I set up my Archer A9 / TP-Link AC1900

Firmware  1.0.4 

Build 20190403

Rel. 63102 (5553)

Hardware version Archer A9 V 6.0

 

The Teather app was install this evening as well.

Version 3.2.6  (April 28, 2019) 

 

I can change the name of the clients in the desktop browser version but the names do not show up in the app.

I changed a name on the app and it did not change on the desktop.

 

The client names need to appear the same on both the desktop and the app.

@Carl has there been any progress on this? Also, i noticed that one of the responses indicated added address reservations resolves this issue. Has this been verified by anyone else? Will doing this sync the device names across router and Iphone app? Thanks.

here it is, 2021 and the same issue is occurring...guess it isn't important to them??
