Hey,

First let me say I know very little about routers.

Here's my setup

Main router is a Cable/router (cable internet)

My office (Archer C900) is connected to the main router on lan port.

I just installed this router the other day and installed at defaults. What has worked in the past was plug cable into wan port, setup router via browser then remove cable from wan and plug into lan. Then I would be on the main router and see network.

I did the same here but router doesn't see main network just my office.

So basically want to use router as over zealous switch but can't get main network as such.

I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong!

Please advise

Thanks

Could be a DHCP conflict.
Give the new router a new IP, on the same subnet as the primary router, but not in the primary DHCP pool.
Save & reboot.
Then disable DHCP on the new router. (The primary router will be the DHCP server for the entire subnet.)
Save & reboot.
Finally, connect the two routers with a patch cable using LAN ports (Dynamic WAN port is unplugged!). hth
