non-broadcast/hidden SSID & TP-Link Wireless Network Utility 5.0.5.b8 (2017/08/04)

Using TP-Link Wireless Network Utility 5.0.5.b8 (2017/08/04) with a TPLINK TL-WN725N adapter on a MacOS 10.13.3 machine. Cannot get it to connect to a non-broadcast/hidden SSID doing 802.1x/PEAP/WPA2. It works if broadcast SSID is enabled on SSID.. whereas I can only do that for "testing" as I need to be able to connect to a customer network when I am onsite.
Is this a known bug.. or can a bug be filed and the TP-Link utility be updated to work for this use case?
