Router working, but asking for Admin Pass and won't allow me to create or log in
Wednesday
Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:
I have had this router for several years. The last month I've been using it with a new ISP (previously I only used it as a wireless network, no internet), through Shentel. It's worked fine with no issue. I have the router set to reboot every morning around 3AM through the settings.
I wake up this morning to no WIFI on my phone. It's connected but there is a ! symbol for there being no internet or issues. I turned the WIFI on/off on my phone a couple times, but it wouldn't work. I get up and turn the PC on, no WIFI. So I power the modem off for a bit, then back on. And the router as well. It takes two tries before the router starts giving me a WIFI signal and ethernet to my PC.
However, I can no longer log into the settings. Not through Tether or the browser I have setup for this and used several times over the last month.
The login page now tells me "Please create an administrator password to manager your Archer A6."
However any password I try to use, cycles back to this screen. I'm repeatedly getting popups about an invalid RSA key.
This was working fine when I went to bed around 2am and then just randomly started happening. There is no rhyme or reason as to why it could suddenly happen. And just as suddenly be working again. But seemingly it's a bug/issue in the software. I updated the router a month ago to it's latest firmware version available. It was a v2 initially and went to like 1.10 or so.
The create page, after closing the initial RSA popup and clicking the create button, is giving me an error like I'm attempting to log into the router. And has subsequently locked for 2 hours because I've tried to 'log in' 10 times. Using the same password I've always used with it.
At this point, I don't know what to do.

  @Yshtola,

Do you happen to know if you linked it with your TP-Link ID?

It could be looking for that local admin password, or your TP-Link login. If you have used a TP-Link ID, the Tether app should require you to login with that first, and then the admin information.

RSA is basically the system for encryption and communication of data - if you are getting repeat warnings, this is likely the cause - where your login information is correct but it is not able to be verified by the router.

I would recommend getting in touch with our help desk to see if they may know of a workaround or method of recovering the key - otherwise it may be an easier process to go through a reset and recongifure the router with the same settings as before.

The router only ever used the basic 'admin' pass. I never had to use a TP Link ID for it. I'm not sure about the Tether app because I was doing it through the browser.

Did a reset through my email.
Then tried the new password there on my Browser. RSA error still and 'login failure'. Still demanding I create a password, but treating it like I'm logging in.

Tried the new password on the Tether App, it says 'waiting' for a short time, then just goes back to the same create page.
