I've noticed for some time that when using the System > Update Deco option in the Deco app that it frequently causes the main Deco (I have 2) to become unstable and eventually drop WiFi connections (ethernet appears to be unaffected). This is generally associated with the app indicating he can't communicate with the Decos. Last night, this occurred and I had to power cycle it to come back on-line. After coming back up, the update check went fine. Otherwise, the unit seems very stable as long as steer clear of this option.

Anyone else notice this behavior? I have the latest firmware update installed.

@EricBWA Yeah, I've seen similar behavior.

Sometimes it's when I check for updates (although that seems to be a waste of time anyways), but I also saw it happen when I was using the deco app to configure tp-link smart home devices.

The router seems to reboot completely.

@EricBWA  I have the same problem with my XE70 Pro three-node mesh network. When using the "Update Deco" feature, I ALWAYS lose the Internet connection. I believe the primary node loses sync with my Cox Fiber ONT. Restarting the primary Deco or simply unplugging the Ethernet cable between them seems to get it back. I just submitted a ticket as this is instantly recreatable on my system.

I noticed this again this evening -- same behavior with my secondary unit going off-line and having to reset both it and the main one to get them working properly. Hopefully TP-Link corrects this glitch in the near future.

@EricBWA

I received the below response from TP-Link support. Changing DNS and cloning my PC's MAC address DID NOT solve the issue.

Thank you for contacting TP-Link support. For the question that updating Deco in your XE70 Pro mesh network causes loss of Internet, please try the following suggestions.

There are a few issue types related with unstable connection, including Main Deco unstable/dropping, Satellite Deco unstable/dropping, Client devices unstable/dropping.
For Main Deco unstable/dropping issues:
    1. Make sure the Ethernet cable is connected properly, replace old cables with new ones.
    2. Try changing the DNS Server within the Deco APP >> MORE >> Internet Connection >> IPv4 >> DNS Address, change the two DNS servers into 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1.
    3. Clone the mac address of your PC or your old Router, please refer to this FAQ for mac clone: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2925/
For Satellite Deco unstable/dropping issues:
    1. Make sure both the main Deco and satellite units are properly placed, do not put any Deco unit inside a cabinet or shelf, they should be in open area.
    2. Move the satellite unit closer to the main Deco, ideal signal strength should be 2/3 bars.
    3. Remove the Ethernet cables attached to the satellite units.
For Client devices unstable/dropping issues (such as Laptop/PC/Phones/IoT Smart devices):
Please refer to "case3" and "case4" of https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2428/ for troubleshooting details.
If the issue still persists, please contact TP-Link support with the result of the above troubleshooting steps.
