Hello,

I bought the Deco M5 from Dell a few months ago and just now installed it in my home.  Everything is working ok, except that I cannot update the firmware on any of the M5. The Deco APP tells me that there is a new firmware, 1.7.8.  But when I press update now, it says "download failed".

I rebooted all 3 M5's, tried to download a firmware updater for my Mac Mini, also fails when I log in. Tried connecting the M5 with an ethernet cable to the Mac Mini and cannot log in to the updater for the Mac.

Any ideas?

On the Support page (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-m5/v1/#Utility) I see a f/w Install utility. Have you tried that?

 

Latest V1 update is Deco M5(US)_V1_1.7.8 Build 20240719 and I assume you have an older one?

I tried that updater, and it fails at login.  I have firmare 1.0.5.

Seems Dell still is selling them. That driver, 1.0.5 isn't even listed on the TP-Link support page. Wondering if Dell has special drivers/fw (I doubt it)?

 

You aren't having problems though, but you are sure missing some security fixes probably?

 

I'd contact both Dell Support (I didn't find any d/l's there either) or write to

  support.usa@tp-link.com

and see if they can help you?
