Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20241101 rel.60873(5553)

I am replacing the old AX3000 with a new AXE75.

What I am wanting to do is have the AXE75 be the primary router, with the AX3000 in another room and connect the 2 routers via wirelss, NOT wired since there is not an Ethernet connection in either room and use the same network address space.

The reason for putting it in another room is that I have a couple of Ethernet (not wireless) printers that I would like to connect to it.

I don't want to make the AX3000 an Access Point because it is 1/2 the speed of the AXE75, and I don't want computers connecting to it due to the speed issue.

I just looked at the settings for the AX3000 and it appears that it can only act as an Access Point if it is hardwired into the AXE75, so the Access Point is not an option.

Is this possible?

If so, what is the process of doing this?

Thanks,

Eric

  @EricBr

What you need is a "travel" router as some have that option to connect to your main router via WIFI.

Another option that may work for you is to use powerline Adapter Ethernet connection which allows you to make an Ethernet connection using your house wire system. One of many brands and models is the TP-Link AV1300 (TL-WPA8631P KIT). The you can connect your two current routers the same as if you connected them by Ethernet.

Hi  @EricBr

Depending on the hardware and firmware versions of your routers, you may be able to achieve wireless connectivity between them via EasyMesh.

What is the exact model and hardware version of your AX3000 router?

If it's the Archer AX3000, and is hardware version 2.60, the latest firmware update for the device added EasyMesh as a feature, which you can use to connect it to your AXE75 via Wi-Fi using the steps in our FAQ here.

Router is AX3000 v1, so EasyMesh is not available unfortunately.

I tried PowerTec adapters in the past, but due to the age of the house and the wiring, the connection was not stable.

I was hoping there was a way to connect them wirelessly, but digging through the settings, that does not seem to be the case.

Thanks,

Eric
