Extender connected but no internet

Just a few quick questions to help us better understand what may be causing this for you:
- How is the extender connected to the main router? Via Ethernet or Wi-Fi?
- Which LEDs are lit on the Extender, and what color are they?
- How far is the extender from the router when testing Internet connectivity?
- Is the Extended SSID different than the Router's SSID?

hi Ryan. Answers:
-extender is connected by Wi-Fi. Had same issue when I connected device through Ethernet.
-all lights are blue
-according to the 'location assistant', it's in a good spot.
-SSID is different. during setup, The extender added an "EXT" addition to the original SSiD
-I went through the firmware update over the weekend. It appears to have installed.

How are you testing Internet connectivity through the extender? E.g., web browsing, streaming video, ping, etc.
What types of devices are being used to test Internet connectivity? E.g., laptop, smartphone, etc.
Apart from the basic setup configuration steps, were any additional settings configured or enabled after setup via the web management interface or Tether app?
Have you attempted to reset the extender and reconfigure it?

-response to first and second question - by trying to open web pages like you tube and such, using various devices (iPad, android smart phone, windows PC). Devices displays a 'connection' signal, but soon after displays a message 'no internet connection'.
-I only followed the basic instructions during set up.
-have restarted several times, have not reset to factory settings or attempted to reconfigure.
