Overview

 

We hope to offer you a chance to experience the new features added to Archer C80 router via firmware update in advance, and also give us TP-Link the opportunity to fully test the firmware in your real network environment and scenarios before the official release. This update brings a host of new features and optimizations that enhance security, improve user experience, and expand functionality. In this post, we'll walk you through the major changes and what they mean for you.

 

New Features and Modifications:

 

L2TP/IPSec VPN Server Functionality

This update adds support for L2TP/IPSec VPN servers, allowing you to set up secure remote access to your home network. Whether you need to connect to your home devices while traveling or require a secure connection for remote work, this feature provides a robust solution.

Nice, but since I update to this version I have problems with Easy Mesh with 4 other C80 with the same version firmware. Looks like only wired Easy Mesh is a problem. After 30 minutes or so, the main router is crashing and after off/on its working again for 30 minutes. I changed to not using Easy Mesh with wired. Only not wired Easy Mesh is fine. Factory reset was also not a solution, still crashing.

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

May I confirm what is the country version of all your C80 V2.20? You may check on the bottom label on each router.

As here is US community, the firmware release is for US version by default. If you have EU version, it is suggested downgrade to previous firmware on your local official website. Then we will try to provide corresponding firmware version for you.

Hi, thanks for your update.

If the network runs properly under Easymesh Ethernet Backhaul before updating firmware, please share the exact network topology (How your 5 Archer AC80 and other network devices connected to each other )
And how did the main router crash? Please share more details then we can take further research.

Hello,

 

The master C80 downstairs bedroom is connected to a fiber modem via de wan connection.  

Two slaves C80 are wired connected to the master C80 via the lan connections, one upstairs and one in the office.

One slave C80 in the living room is wireless connected to the master C80 or to the wired slave C80 upstairs.

One slave C80 at the balcony is wireless connected to the a wired slave C80 upstairs.

 

 

The crash was that the master was not supplying internet anymore after a.p. 30 minutes. So every 30 minutes I had to restart the master.

I don't have a logging of that, pity I did not save it.

I don't like to go back to test because its running now perfect without easy mesh.

 

I saw a nice extra feature with times to block the kids, then it's nice your have easy mesh, because only one device to setup.

- After the update, the c80 dies every time, sometimes I have to turn it off to get it working again.
- The internet cuts out constantly (this didn't happen with the previous version).
- I have devices on parental control and they can use the internet even though they don't have the internet enabled.

Facing same issue after updating as other members described. 

 

I have mesh network setup with 3 Archer C80s. 1 being the main router and other 2 as satellites connected via LAN cables. The satellites stop working randomly but the main router keeps going as it is still on older firmware and there's no update for it yet I have checked many times. 

 

 

1. Main router firmware Version:

 

1.13.2 Build 230824 Rel.74702n(5553)

 

Hardware Version:

Archer C80 1.0

 

 

 

2. Satellites firmware Version:

 

1.14.0 Build 240617 Rel.39521n(5553)

I put 3 slaves in Access Point Mode, and connect them wired to the master. Now the master will stop working every a.p. 12 hours, is a workaround but not nice.

One slave is still via Easy Mesh, I will remove that today also from the network, maybe is then getting normal again.

May I confirm how you found the satellite routers stoppe working? I mean we may need your help to provide detailed phenomenon about the issue.

And how the satellite router restore to work when the issue happens? Do you need to reboot the satellite routers? Or they will restore the connection automatically?
