Model: Deco
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.6 Build 20240111 Rel. 84231

Just bough three of the Deco W4500. First off, absolute turn off to be able to ONLY set it up using your phone. Every TP-Link product I have allowed for setup thought the browser, which is way more convenient AND efficient.

I went through the setup which also forced precise location permission, terrible, I can set my time manually if needed! Trying to get into the Web Interact was easy, but why do you offer the Web Interface?! Unless I am missing something, I can't even setup anything in it !!!!! I can't setup/change Wi-Fi Passwords, no ability to setup port forwarding, dns or ANYTHING. What a useless option to be honest.

If I need my phone to do everything, have to supply my location during setup, create an online account to install it, just to be tracked then I am questioning the privacy and security of this product.

Please somebody tell me I am missing something here and I can operate the Deco through the Web Interface.

If this is not possible then this is the last TP-LInk product I ever bought. How disappointing!

  @GrumpyTurd

Hi there!  TP-Link's Deco, and for that matter most Mesh systems on the market, is designed with app management in mind.  This was a simplistic approach to network management.  It also opened the avenue of managing your network live and in a remote setting without needing to open ports or setup a complicated VPN link,   In most case those who would be considered power users are the ones who prefer the web UI over a simplied app.  While that is understandable, unfortunately, Deco does not have an option for such users to use as an alternative.

While Deco does have a Web UI it is extrmely limited and only used for diagnostic puerposes, such as checking system logs or doing a manual firmware update.  There are no plans to expand the functionality of the Web UI at this time.

For Web management you would want to look at our Traditional Routers.  Those do also have a mesh functionality by way of the standardized EasyMesh protocol.  Even when using EasyMesh Management is still possible through the Web UI.
