Hi @Riley_S !

I have a Deco Mesh X55 network V1.6 (have 3 V1.26, not using). I did the firmware update last week to 1.5.0.

So far it's so much better than the previous firmware.

I'm having one issue & it may not be an issue but something I'm not understanding or configuring incorrectly.

I have 3 devices that have always been enabled as high priority (Nest thermostat, Ring doorbell and Generac whole house generator).

After the firmware update finished I was going through the app to see what changes I noticed & if anything needed reconfigured.

I immediately noticed the 3 high priority devices were all showing in the QOS in accelerated mode. I deleted each, checked & they were disabled from high priority. I changed them back to high priority then checked the QOS & they were again showing in accelerated mode.

Is this normal or is there something I can configure to keep them from being automatically added to the accelerated mode? 🤔

Thanks for your assistance!!

Steph

@Riley_S Any input from Engineers to deploy this on BE95 model for testing?

Hey @StephH,

Apologies for the late response; I was terribly sick. I believe that the QoS settings should still be taking effect, as the accelerated mode technically overrides the QoS settings, essentially making the device a high priority.

  • Are you able to remove the devices from being an accelerated device?
  • Have you tried to reboot your network after making the changes?
  • Do you see a difference in device behavior since the devices were accelerated?

Something to note, the largest effect QoS has is in regards to your network speeds. Due to the low bandwidth that your listed devices consume, you may not necessarily want/need these devices to have a high-priority. I would usually recommend using the setting in two situations: One is when your devices are fighting for bandwidth due to the other devices consuming the entire bandwidth. Or two, when you want your device to gain additional bandwidth over other devices, such as streaming or gaming.

Hey @Betovanbuuren,

The BE95 is still seeing a great deal of attention and is having a variety of features developed for both Wi-Fi 7 and additional features.

Right now, this firmware is still in its early stages of testing and potential releases, but I would expect the BE95 to receive the update relatively quickly after the necessary patches and fixes are made.

The X50/55 are some of our most popular models, and are most likely the models that see initial testing and development due to how often it has been updated through hardware and firmware in the past - meaning the engineers know the devices inside and out. Wi-Fi 7 is still in its early stages and likely needs more time to develop and make sure that the features are compatible with the new tech such as MLO and Multi-RU

Are these features coming also to x95 series decos?

Hey @Joviaalia,

The plan is always for features to be added to as many Decos as possible. However, we do not have any insights into what version a model will be updated to or when an update may be seen. I would recommend taking a look at this Knowledge Base Article summarizing the features added in recent firmware releases:

Deco Firmware Overview - Availability and Feature Overview

Currently, the X95 is on the 1.2.X firmware, which equates to the 1.7/1.8 firmware releases.

The Deco X55 Has Officially Received this Firmware Through an OTA Update, Please Update Your Firmware with the Version on Your Version's Download Page

I'm not getting the update on my deco app but it's because I have version 1.6. This is correct? Since version 1.0 and 1.6 share the same hardware, I would be safe to manually update my deco x55 with 1.0's latest firmware?

  @Wi-Fi-25

Traditionally yes - especially since you can see the equivalents on the firmware update pages: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-x55/v1.60/#Firmware

There is a possibility that a manual update will not be allowed/accepted since it is a larger update and cannot be downgraded.

If you haven't received the update yet, I suggest changing the DNS server that your network is using to see if a different route may help allow the update to be seen.

Hey @Riley_S and @wifi_25!

I’ve definitely missed being engaged with the community especially because I’d just started commenting if I was able to help anyone.

Deco X55 V1.6 - LESSON LEARNED -  UPGRADING A FIRMWARE VERSION OFFICIALLY RELEASED FOR DECO X55 V1 BUT NOT OFFICIALLY RELEASED FOR V1.6

I've been trying to figure out why shortly after upgrading my Deco X55 V1.6 to the 1.4.1 firmware my network went from performing flawlessly to first becoming slightly unstable, then a few more issues started.

Here’s how my situation has played out:

1. After dealing with the problems from the 1.4.1 firmware, I saw the 1.5.1 firmware had been officially released for Deco X55 V1 but NOT V1.6.

2. I decided to move forward with upgrading to the 1.5.1 firmware. I absolutely shouldn't have. HUGE MISTAKE

3. If I were to list every problem I've encountered, it'd be a book. I started troubleshooting and nothing helped.

4. I reached out to TP-Link tech support & my ticket was immediately escalated.

5. To date I'm working with an amazing Sr. Engineer who stays in contact and provides detailed info either for for something he'd like me to do with my network or to provide info to him. He's absolutely phenomenal!

6. My network is now configured differently in order to see if it'll take care of all the problems I'm experiencing.

**I can't stress how important a portion of what @Riley_S

said when he replied to @wifi_25 in his last paragraph

is ⬇️...

"the v1 and v1.6 versions normally share their firmware. However, this rule does not always apply to Early Release Firmware. For now, the firmware should be limited to the models explicitly mentioned above"

Lesson I learned:

if you see a firmware released that's not specifically for your version but a very similar version, considering what I just described I'm going through, definitely decide if it's worth moving forward or just waiting until it’s officially released for your exact version.

Lastly, I was told I could use the recovery tool to revert to the previous firmware but it wouldn't work.

**The same day I received this message which explained why I couldn’t get the recovery tool to work:

"the firmware size of 1.5.1 version is larger than before and there are some restrictions so it can't be reverted to the previous version"

Hopefully what I shared is clear but more importantly is helpful. I realize I'm referring to a specific Deco model & versions however, there's potentially other Deco models with very similar versions & this may be helpful if that's the case.

Everyone have a great day/night!! 💯❤️⚾️‼️ #AlwaysBeKind #TPLINK

@Riley_S Is this firmware going to be available for the whole deco line?  Or just specific models?  Curious if this is coming to my X95's or not?
