Hello,

I have been experiencing internet issues for the past few weeks.  These occur randomly throughout the day where URLs, often when not accessed recently, will not load.  When this happens:

  • Pages will not load for about a minute or two and then it seems to correct itself.
  • Some devices work correctly, while others do not. 
  • Some pages work correctly, while others do not.
  • A Youtube video will continue playing, but google.com is not reachable on another tab.
  • Live sports streaming will continue with no interruption, but sites are not reachable on a laptop
  • It happens on wireless as well as wired connections.   
  • I initially thought it may be my modem or an ISP issue, but today the modem was not reachable on the local network either when it happened, and then was reachable a minute later.

  @enwolf,

It is definitely an odd situation, and I will need to reach out to determine what the IMPROXY errors are indicating in the logs. I want to say IGMP snooping but I am not sure.

 

You may consider changing the DNS server that your network is using, as this is what is potentially routing the data to different services. Try using a common service such as Google or Cloudflare and see if the behavior follows. 

 

If the behavior happens often, you should consider seeing if the behavior does originate with the modem by connecting a PC directly to the modem.

Just had a long occurence of this.  Internet unreachable for about 5 minutes from one PC on wired connection and one on WiFi.  I have set the Cloudflare DNS as primary.

Interestingly, another computer that is on a VPN and wired connection had no issues whatsoever and never lost connection.  In addition, a live broadcast on an echo never stopped.  I feel that rules out the modem and internet connection.

To follow up, I changed back to my previous Almond router and set the Decos to AP mode and all is working well.  It seems there was definitely something going on with the Deco routing and/or communication with Xfinity.  I am using the same DNS servers as before.
