 My main objective is to update or disable certain outdated services (specifically SMB and SSH) and to close specific ports. I’ve run into a few issues and need some guidance.

    1.    Outdated Services: The SMB and SSH services running on my router are outdated. I am looking for guidance on how to update these services to their latest, more secure versions, or alternatively, how to safely disable them.
    
    2.    Closing Ports: I also need to close certain specific ports. Guidance on how to close these ports would be very helpful.
    
    3.    Lack of Specific Firmware Source Code: I intended to look into the firmware source code myself, but the source code for my specific hardware version (Version 3) is not available in TP-Link’s GPL source code downloads – they only have versions 1 and 4.
    
    4.    Exploring OpenWrt: I’ve looked at OpenWrt and found a snapshot for the AX23. I’m not sure if this is compatible with my router or if it’s suitable only for advanced users. Any insights into whether this OpenWrt snapshot might be a viable solution for updating or managing the services on my router would be greatly appreciated.
