Firmware 1.2.5 Build 20231025 rel.50143(5553) keeps dropping 5G connections
Prior to about 2 weeks or so, the 5G WiFi has been very stable. However, recently the 5G connections keep dropping several times a day. 2.4G seems to be OK.
My current 5G settings are as follows: Channel Width: 20/40/80MHz, Channel: Auto, Mode: 802.11a/n/ac/ax mixed
I've seen comments from other users (using older firmware versions) to change the channel to one of the lower channels (36. 40. 44. or 48), and NOT on 52(DFS).
Also, some have suggested to change the Channel Width to 20 MHz.
I'm using a T-Mobile Sagemcom Fast 5688W 5G Modem with built-in WiFi, which is also functional. When the AX55 5G connections are lost, switching to the Sagemcom restores my internet.
Currently, my 5G connections are two smart TV's, two 5G Android cell phones, and my laptop. I have very many 2G devices, but again, these seem to be unaffected.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

See other posts on devices dropping for the router. May require a downgrade in firmware or a new version.

@ArcherC8 Ver 1.2.5 is the latest version (on auto updates). Can you recommend a stable version?

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
To properly assist you on this concern, please provide us result on the following troubleshooting:
1.When the issue occurs, do the affected devices automatically disconnect from the Wi-Fi? Is the issue that devices cannot reconnect, or that devices are connected but have no internet access?
2. When the issue happens, how do you usually get it working again? such as restarting the router?
3. The 5G WiFi dropping issue started after the firmware update?
After confirming the above details, we would like to escalate your case to our senior engineer for debugging.
Looking forward to your reply.

1.When the issue occurs, do the affected devices automatically disconnect from the Wi-Fi?
Yes, they disconnect, but see below.
Is the issue that devices cannot reconnect, or that devices are connected but have no internet access?
On the (5G) TV's and 5G phones, they fully disconnect from the internet ("Internet Lost"), however, it's not clear if they're still connected to the AX55 WiFi. As noted in my original post, this seems to only affect 5G devices. Connected devices that are 2.4G (only) seem to still operate normally (i.e. wireless cameras, etc.).
Several attempts to reconnect fail. However, I'm able to connect to the T-Mobile Sagemcom 5688W gateway's 5G WiFi directly.
2. When the issue happens, how do you usually get it working again? such as restarting the router?
Usually, rebotting the AX55 router restores the 5G WiFi/Internet.
3. The 5G WiFi dropping issue started after the firmware update?
Unfortunately, I have no exact idea when the latest update was pushed onto the router. I've attached the current log, if that helps. Note that while my AX55 has been in service for 2 years to date, the log shows a starting date of 10-25-2023, which leads me to believe that this was the date of the last firmware update, which coensides within the timeframe when these issues started. Also note that the T-Mobile Sagemcom 5688W has been in service since 8-30-2023, and its internal 5G WiFi has been active since then, but no devices were connected to its WiFi, just ethernet to the router.
While you're doing your research on your end, I will attempt to disable the Sagemcom's WiFi, just in case there's any conflicts between the two that may be causing these issues.
Thanks,
Bill

@BillW65 Just a followup. After turning off the Sagemcom 5688W WiFi, the router still disconnected from the TV's, so the issues with the AX55 are to the router itself.
Again, any sugesitons as to a firmware version that's known to be stable would be great.
Thanks,
Bill

I'm having the same issue here as well. Only 5g devices randomly disconnect. Did a full factory reset and set up everything all over again and it started up again. Devices will disconnect at random saying no internet connection. Sometimes the drop is only momentary and they will connect back up but other times it's 20-30mins or more and they will all of the sudden connect back up again. Very frustrating.
Firmware is up to date just like the OP

Firmware version 1.2.6 Build 20231130 rel.36135(5553) has just been pushed on my Archer AX55 (TP-Link AX3000).
Lets hope this solves the 5G drop issue.
If this update is in response to this thread, thank you TP-Link team.
