Model: Archer AX11000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20220221 rel.50072(5553)

Hi, I would really love some help =)

I just bought the Archer AX11000 and I have two USB drives plugged into it, with different but probably related issues.

  • Backup Drive
    • Has old Time Machine saves on it from when I used to connect the drive physically
    • I can get the computer to see the drive
    • I can't get the computer to recognize the drive wirelessly as a viable Time Machine destination.
      • "No available Time Machine Destinations. Connect a suitable external drive or network storage device"
  • Storage Drive
    • I can get the computer to see and read the drive*
    • I can't get the computer to write to the drive
    • * There are a few seemingly random folders that I'm locked out of. They have the red icon over the folder and they give me the "you don't have permission to view this folder" error, even though the permission settings are the same as the entire drive

Computer info: 2021 MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.0

TP-Link settings:

  • Enabled: Samba for Windows
  • Enabled: Local FTP
  • Disabled: Internet FTP
  • Enabled: Secure Sharing
  • Select folder: All
  • Secure Sharing: Read&Write
  • Enabled: Media Sharing

@ScottTBC

Maybe you can try to install the new firmware for the router, then check if the issue persists.

There is a new early-release version of firmware for AX11000 v1, you can find it in the following thread:

Early Release VPN Client Firmware for Archer AX11000 V1

Hi Scott,

What file system do you have your disks formatted as? According to the manual, that router only supports FAT32, exFat, NTFS or HFS+.

Note that APFS is not supported.

@Discokatt Thanks for replying! The time machine is Mac OS Extended (Journaled), which I believe is the same as HFS+? Correct me if I'm wrong. =)
