Tether & RE205 (onemesh): changing name of a device via tether results in service lossage
My setup is an Archer AX55's onemesh network with 3 RE205 extenders. Unfortunately, the extenders come in different hardware versions. I was having trouble with at least 2 of the extenders.
Router:

Steps to duplicate:
1) Change the name using tether (android, updated Oct 26, 2021)
2) 2.5 Ghz network for the router starts loosing connectivities. 5G seems to remain unaffected.
I did this twice from a working configuration. The way I fixed this was to turn off all the extenders, reboot the router, reset and reconfigure the extenders that were changed.
If this is an issue, tether probably shouldn't allow name change.
For additional info, name changing from the router's web interface advanced -> Onemesh doesn't have this problem.

This sounds quite unusual, as changing the name of client/ device should not affect Router WiFi signal.
May I know, is this issue reproducible in your network? Do you mean every time changing the name of client on Tether APP will cause the Router 2.4Ghz unstable issue?
How about the 2.4G WiFi led on router at that time, do you mean all the devices connect to AX55 2.4Ghz drops out, or is there any error on 2.4Ghz wifi network?
If possible, can you help locate the changing the name page on Tether app again, thank you very much!

Yes, I did this twice from a stable configuration. Both of the time, the PC (which was connected with the 2.4Ghz ) used to monitor network connectivities started having ping problems with all the devices on the network. Trying to reconfigure the extender while the router hadn't been rebooted resulted in the extender not showing the 2.5G LED. Only after rebooting the router, and reconfiguring the extender (whose name was changed), did the network work normally again.
For your questions,
1. This is reproducible for me.
2. It definitely affected the 2.5ghz network, but devices connected to 5Ghz, I didn't check personally. Another person reported that he didn't have a problem.
3. LED light on the router: I don't remember or didn't check.
4. To change the name of the extender from tether
a) open tether
b) select the extender
c) click the extender icon (in the middle)
d) select the name of the extender
e) change and save

- Can I know the detailed network topology : how did you connect AX55 and 3 RE205
e.g. AX55<Wireless>RE205 #1
AX55<Wireless>RE205 #2
AX55<Wireless>RE205 #3
AX55 <2.4Ghz> PC, PC can't open page or ping failed
- Do you mean PC connected to router 2.4Ghz wifi will lose Internet or ping failed, can I know how do you do the ping test.
Do you have OneMesh +' Smart connect' On on the main router?

The extenders are all connected to AX55 wirelessly, in one-mesh configuration, with smart-connect turned on. The laptop PC is within overlapping regions of AX55 and two extenders. Most of the time, it is connected to the AX55 directly (known because it has the highest bandwidth, and doesn't show up as a client on all the extenders). After changing the name, the AX55 seemed to drop the 2.5g network altogether, so the PC then switched to connecting with one of the extenders, but started having problem pinging network elements both within the network (except the extender through which it was connected) and the internet at large itself. I don't remember if it could open the web interface for the AX55 or not, but am pretty sure that it could open the web interface for the extender through which it was connected. Without looking at the ping failures, you can still tell there is a problem because web browsers, messaging applications, etc. on the PC, started misbehaving.
I would guess that the AX55 drops the 2.5g network altogether, but the 5g network may remain connected, although I didn't test the 5g presumed connectivity.
The PC app I used is freeping by Tools4ever. I set up to ping the AX55, the extenders, the ISP-connected router through which the AX55 is connected, DNS servers that are used, etc. When the network is normal, this works pretty well. When mulfunctioning in the above scenario, only the extender through which the PC was connected itself, responded to pings consistently. I don't remember if the rest of network elements completely failed to respond, or failed to respond just some of the time, but am under the impression that they failed to respond in a high percentage, ie. >50%.
The laptop I use is a 10 year old toshiba that doesn't do 5g.

Really appreciated for your further feedback. From your description, it seems that Toshiba PC internet does not work, and reset of the devices have some internet issue . This may require some more clear clues like if device disappear from router client list when issue happen (on Tether app client list). I created a support email for TKID220123496 and see if our engineers has any suggestion.
