Firmware Version: 1.5.1 Build 20210126 Rel. 59387

Having an issue with my new deco m9 plus mesh network and RDP.  My setup prior was a straight xfinity gateway/router and RDP worked fine.

 

I installed the mesh system on a Friday and on Monday went to use RDP and it would freeze for 4 seconds, work for 10 seconds, freeze for 4 seconds, etc.  I used the laptop directly that day to avoid the problem but tried again on Tuesday and it just started working.  It is worth noting this happened on two seperate laptops.

 

The following week, it started up again and i have no idea why it didn't work, worked, and then didn't work again.  I've tried the following:

1. Gateway in router mode (wireless off) and deco in router mode - this setup happened by default, experience explained above

2. Gateway in bridge mode and deco in router mode - same experience above

3. Gateway in router mode and deco is access mode - same experience above

 

All with same results.

 

I now have my desktop/laptops trying to use the RDP on the xfinity wireless network and it works fine. 

 

Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you use the RDP within the local LAN network, or over the internet?

If in the LAN, may I know how these two computers connect to Deco?

 

Here are some suggestions for your reference:

1. turn off the fast roaming and beamforming on the Deco APP.

2. If the LAN laptops are wirelessly connected to Deco, please turn off the Mesh Technology on these laptops.

3. Change the DNS server on the Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP>Primary DNS and Secondary DNS to be 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4.

@TP-Link It is over my LAN and they connect wirelessly.  Based on your post, I made two changes to both the PC using RDP and the laptops being RDPd to:

1. Set the bandwidth to high priority

2. Turned off the mesh technology

 

All is good in the world now.
